We need your help with two significant initiatives as we begin the 2018 - 2019 membership year! We are looking for a member outside of the Board to be on the nomination committee with Amy Datla and Deirdra Sanders-Burnett. Furthermore, we invite each member of SMHCA to nominate candidates for President-elect, Secretary, and Treasurer. Officers for 2018 - 2019. You may nominate yourself or another member. Nominees will be contacted by the Nominating Committee and a slate of candidates will be presented at the May meeting. Election ballots will be sent to members in May. Nominees will be elected by ballot and installed during the June annual membership meeting. President-elect: Professional LMHC member of SMHCA; Currently licensed and in good standing with the State of Florida 491 Board; Active member of SMHCA for at least one year; Reside or work in District III of FMHCA. One year term. Become President in 2019; assume presidential duties in absence of the President.
Secretary: Professional LMHC or General member of SMHCA; Active member of SMHCA for at least one year; Reside or work in District III of FMHCA. One year term. Primary role: Record minutes of SMHCA Board meetings.
Treasurer: Professional LMHC or General member of SMHCA; Active member of SMHCA for at least one year; Reside or work in District III of FMHCA. One year term. Primary role: Receive, deposit, and disburse SMHCA funds.
A “General member” possesses a master’s degree in human services; may be licensed or unlicensed in another related mental health profession; work or previously worked in a clinical or educational setting.
All board nominations must be submitted to the Nominating Committee by Friday, March 23rd.
The Board meets after the training on the third Friday of the month September thru June. Meetings usually last one hour; occasionally longer if the agenda requires it. As a token of appreciation for service, members of the Board get monthly trainings at no cost.
