Sexual Addiction: Assessment and Treatment

3.0 CEUs

by Colleen Klein, LCSW, CSAT, CEAP

Sex addiction is any compulsive, sexually motivated behavior that is acted out despite the negative consequences. It is also known as sexual compulsion or sexual dependency. Estimates suggest between somewhere between 12 and 30 million Americans experience some kind of sexual compulsion.

Sex addiction can interfere with one’s social life, physical health, and emotional well-being. It generally does not improve until the person receives treatment. A compassionate therapist can help individuals develop a healthier relationship with sex and intimacy.

Participants will:

  1. Learn the basic dynamics of sexual addiction.
  2. Discover assessment tools available to help properly determine level of sexual addiction.
  3. Review case studies of sexual addiction.
  4. Learn about family dynamics involved in sexual addiction, and the impact on their primary relationships.
  5. Learn how CSAT's (Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist) treat compulsive sexual behavior and their partners.
